I was inspired to paint this picture after a pleasant afternoon spent at the Oaklands Wetland in Adelaide, South Australia. This suburban oasis has reintroduced much of the original biodiversity and perhaps most noticeably the birds. It was fascinating to watch this white ibis patrol the shallows, skillfully probing the water with its long beak in search of a meal. The challenge of depicting the reflections and transparency of the water really sparked my imagination.
