It has been one of the greatest privileges of my life to swim with this whale shark at Ningaloo Reef off Western Australia. The way these magnificent creatures loom into view and meander by, so silent but so powerful, is truly exhilarating.

I wanted to portray this shark cruising by in its vast ocean playground, lit by sunbeams that penetrate the perfectly clear, deep blue of Ningaloo.
