Microcebus & Megadalapis

11.8 x 16.5 inches

Available for Acquisition

One morning while staying at the Centre ValBio research station adjacent to Ranomafana NP in Madagascar, I saw this skull of an extinct giant lemur genus Megadalapis—one of the biggest—and asked to borrow it to paint with my traveling watercolor set box. Coincidentally on the previous evening I had the chance to spot 2 living mouse lemurs (Microcebus) on the road side. I had this idea of putting together the biggest extinct lemur with the smallest extant lemur on the same piece of art.
