“The Lucky Five” tells a story of five rhinos rescued from desperate beginnings due to poached parents. After some very dedicated people at Rhino Revolution worked tirelessly to rear them from a very young dependent age, they have been released back into the wild and are thriving. In the painting, “The Lucky Five,” the rhinos are depicted in golden-evening light, standing in a defiant, defensive posture, some courageous and some unsure, but aware of the ever-present dangers facing rhinos in the wild.
