Cape Petrel (Daption capense)

The Cape petrel is a common seabird from the southern hemisphere easily identifiable with its contrasted “painted” black and white plumage. They feed mostly on krill that they catch by skimming the ocean surface or diving under water and filtering them out (hence the salt gland situated above their nasal passage to help desalinate their bodies). The very limited palette and the subtle combination of cool and warm grays/blues give this piece a powerful light and energy that will speak to all sea lovers.
