It feels great when the migratory birds return in the spring —whooper swans, cranes, tufted lapwings, and geese. I have also experienced them in their wintering areas, such as the large flocks of geese along the North Norfolk coast in spring before their long migrating flight up to northwest Siberian tundra. The days before the break-up, they fly restlessly back and forth morning and evening.
