Wrens and Oak Leaves
22 x 30 inches
The wrens and oak leaves stand alone on a white background. I removed the surrounding environment drawing the viewer into the birds’ world with nothing to distract them. The Chimney Sweeper moth that flies by day has two functions. One is to emphasize that these birds are tirelessly searching for food and, secondly, I placed it to give the picture movement, not just in the fact that the moth is flying, but also to animate and give direction to the wrens.
