Coming from Canada myself, I’ve always had a deep fondness for Canada geese. They frequent the nearby pond, especially in the fall when they gather in large, noisy numbers. In the many years I’ve lived here, I’ve only seen one pair successfully raise their young on the pond. This painting was the result of many hours of observation. I chose to enhance the idea of their vigilance, always looking warily from side to side, on a constant watch for danger to their small family.
