On an overcast, early spring day, when it seemed all the color had been bleached from the landscape, this preening turkey vulture provided a welcome spot of color. I enjoyed the subtle variations in color that played over its iridescent feathers. Preening vultures are a joy to watch. I enjoyed the juxtaposition of a “filthy” creature cleaning itself.
