In the cool waters of the Humboldt Current along the west coast of South America, seabirds are abundant and diverse. One of the less numerous species and one of my favorites is the Red-legged Cormorant. On multiple trips to the coast of Peru, I have spent a lot of time watching pairs of these cormorants on seaside cliffs and rocky islands just offshore, admiring their elegant patterns
